Future Wars: Game
built 223 days ago
In the graphics department, Future Wars is the tops, with some of the nicest scenes you are likely to see in an adventure game. But these are not always perfect, especially with some of the tiny ‘graphically presented’ items you are supposed to notice. Animation is quite smooth, which makes a pleasant change. In fact it is of high quality all round: awe inspiring at times.
Future Wars (original name Les voyageurs du temps: la menace, aka Time Travelers: the menace, aka Adventures in Time) is an adventure game from Delphine Software International, released in 1989. The game is mainly the work of Paul Cuisset (story and programming) and Eric Chahi (graphics).
Future Wars, a fantasy point and click game that will have you adventuring through the past, present and the future. Controls are easy to use, graphics are nice, sounds are excellent, and the story is fantastic.

Future Wars box cover Future Wars, Delphine Software's debut and first attempt at an adventure game, is a fun adventure controlled via a home-made point-and-click interface. A right click brings up the verb menu. After choosing one of the six commands, you point the mouse over the desired target and execute with a left click -- straight and simple. Small objects are depicted by enlarged drawings -- once you found them. Pixel hunting is a very frequent sport in Future Wars, making the game extremely frustrating as you must move the mouse slowly across the screen, looking for 1x1-pixel objects you may have missed. Lazy players are punished with puzzle dead-ends.
Future Wars is a graphic adventure game. What an unlikely hero! You are a window cleaner. A common, little window cleaner. Yet you discover, more due to your notorious curiosity than by mistake, a time machine in your chiefs back office. Strange?

A PC CD-ROM version of Future Wars was later released and distributed by Sony Electronic Publishing. The CD-ROM had remastered music for each of the themes played at different locations throughout the game.
