Fusion Bomb

"The Czar", the largest Fusion Bomb ever detonated, measured 58 Megatons - More than 10 times the amount of TNT used in all of World War 2. This nuke had multiple blast rings, and was so tall it reached into space (205,000 feet).
Diagram shows parts of a teller-ulam bomb. Scientists had known since the 1930s about fusion in the sun, but fusion refused to be "tamed" into a bomb on Earth, and even after the war, fusion was not the focus at Los Alamos. Then the Cold War intensified: The 1948 Berlin blockade, the 1949 Soviet atomic bomb test, and the start of the Korean war in 1950 created new political realities. In 1950, President Harry Truman made the H-bomb a national priority.

The Fusion Grenade upgrades into the Fusion Bomb which does the same, except after the explosion leave behind little exploding pellets called Intelli-Seeking Pyrocidic Nitroballs, much like the Bouncer. These Nitroballs seek out nearby opponents and hit them, dealing more damage than ever before.
Fusion is an action game in which your job is to find nine pieces of a fusion bomb scattered over 13 levels. There are two craft at your disposal: a fighter and a detachable ground vehicle. To find the bomb pieces, many enemies and their spawning points must be destroyed. Barriers block the access to other levels and keys must be found to open them. Certain areas can only be reached by the ground craft which is not as powerful as the fighter... - some careful planning is required.

For Grecula, the FBI flew him down to Texas to hear him babble about needing to buy fusion bomb materials from the local hardware store. The FBI kicked in money for office space for the Miami gang. As for the red mercury guys, it’s not even clear the would-be purchasers even thought they were buying something that was dangerous.
In April 1951 experiments with fusion reactions and atomic bombs were already being prepared by the US as part of the Greenhouse test series, including a test of the idea of fusion boosting. The Greenhouse George test in particular provided a valuable opportunity to evaluate the Teller-Ulam ideas by allowing the observation of radiation effects in heating and compressing (although not imploding) an external mass of fusion fuel.
