- Halloween Jokes -- Fun
Halloween is a special holiday that is celebrated on the very last day of the month of October. This day revolves mostly around children, although some fun-loving adults enjoy joining in on the fun. The word of Halloween originated in the Catholic Church. It is a spin-off of the holiday of All Saints Day... knows as All Hollows Day. - Tommy Cooper -- Jokes
The comic material of Tommy Cooper was nothing special, what made him one of Britain’s favourite comedians of the time was his intrinsically comic nature. He embodied great innocence and childlike qualities which made his failed jokes particularly funny. Many comedians have commended his ability to bring the house down with the thinnest of materials. - Neil Hamburger -- Jokes
Neil Hamburger is the greatest sad-sack comic out there, delivering his lines as though he's confessing to an inattentive bartender instead of an actual audience. His act ranges from telling really bad jokes about pop stars, political figures, the Unibomber, and Scientologists, to stories about his family life, dealing with divorce (his ex-wife sent him a coupon to receive "deluxe treatment" at the local abattoir), as well as lots of heckling from audience members who are apparently only impressed when Neil Hamburger does his "famous" "Zipper Lips" song and dance routine. It's a very subtle and highly self-deprecating album (as is the bulk of Hamburger's work) but ... very funny in a painful, groaning-because-it's-so-bad sort of way. - Craig Ferguson -- Jokes
Craig Ferguson attends the BAFTA/LA Britannia Awards in Beverly Hills, Calif., in this Nov. 4, 2004 file photo. Less than a week after being sworn in as a U.S. citizen, Craig Ferguson learned he'll be telling jokes to President Bush. The CBS "Late Late Show" host revealed Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, that he's been booked as the entertainer at the annual White House correspondents' dinner in Washington, scheduled April 26. - Halloween Jokes -- Costumes
Typical Halloween costumes have traditionally been monsters such as vampires, ghosts, witches, and devils. The stereotypical Halloween costume is a sheet with eyeholes cut in it as a ghost costume. In nineteenth-century Scotland and Ireland the reason for wearing such fearsome (and non-fearsome) costumes was the belief that since the spirits that were abroad that night were essentially intent on doing harm, the best way to avoid this was to fool the spirits into believing that you were one of them. In recent years, it has become common for costumes to be based on themes other than traditional horror, such as dressing up as a character from a TV show or movie. In 2001, after the September 11 attacks, for example, costumes of firefighters, police officers, and United States military personnel became popular among children. In 2004, an estimated 2.15 million children in the United States were expected to dress up as Spider-Man, the year's most popular costume. - Johnny Carson -- Jokes
The thing about Johnny Carson was, you could barely tell his politics. Sure, from the sounds of it, he was left of center. But what made him so great was, you couldn't tell. His jokes and so forth didn't give off some political spin that today's comics do. And other then this interview, Carson kept to himself and stayed out of the limelight. Unlike some of today's so-called entertainers. - April Fools Day -- Practical Jokes
The style of April Fools’ pranks has changed over the years. Sending the unsuspecting on pointless errands was an especially prized practical joke in those earlier post-Julian days. In modern times, that form of pranking has shifted away from April Fools’ merriment and seemingly become a rite of initiation into many groups, both formal and informal. New campers are routinely sent on a mission to retrieve the left-handed smoke shifter from its last borrower by more experienced campers who then quietly guffaw to themselves as the tenderfoot wanders about in vain on his quest. Others are often roped in to add to the hilarity, with each person the newcomer asks pointing him in towards yet someone else who will further the joke. Rookie pilots are sent in search of a bucket of prop wash, and new carnies sent on wild goose chases for the elusive keys to the fairgrounds. - Joss Whedon -- Miscellaneous
As quick as Television networks were to accept him though, they were even quicker to remove Whedon from their premises. Some, it seems, just didn’t get it – not that Whedon’s “naming any names”. - The Girl Next Door -- Matthew Kidman
Instead of being about Matthew's coming to the mature conclusion that Danielle could have worked in porn and still be capable of love, "The Girl Next Door" becomes an adolescent "redeem a slut" fantasy. It reinforces ancient ideas about what good girls will and won't do. The question the movie doesn't ask is this: Did Matthew think Danielle -- or any of those other girls -- were "so much better than this" when he was jerking off to them? - Ally -- Renee
Ally is in denial about her birthday but her co-workers aren't. Elaine orchestrates a party at the bar and asks Dr. Greg Butters to sing a romantic ballad dedicated to Ally. He does, and knocks the socks off everyone in the room. Renee is especially moved, and jumps up on stage to join him in a seductive duet. Meanwhile, in the courtroom, Ally is forced to take the position for a new client that his foot fetish qualifies him as temporarily insane. Renee, as the opposing district attorney, maintains that sneaking into a would-be date's apartment uninvited to tickle her feet is breaking and entering.
