Bands that began during the 1970s P-Funk era incorporated some of the uninhibited sexuality of Prince and state-of-the-art technological developments to continue to craft funk hits. Cameo, Zapp, The Gap Band, The Bar-Kays, and The Dazz Band all found their biggest hits in the 80s, but by the latter half of the 80s, funk had lost its commercial impact. During the 1980s, breakdancing was in its heyday, and several funk tracks had little association with the routine; ... hip hop tracks using looped funk excerpts as a basis were a more commonplace for breakdancers. However, some funk tracks; notably "Wide Receiver" by Michael Henderson have been favored by breakdancers.

Funk is a type of mold common in nearly all parts of the world. It is very versatile, able to grow on nearly any surface including human beings, and it is nearly invisible to the naked eye in its natural state. Like other molds, it tends to grow in warm, damp areas and prefers the dark. Locker rooms, armpits, and hippies are common breeding grounds of Funk.
