Fungus nails is a unsightly condition which can be difficult to treat. Many patients become very conscious about a fungus nail condition and refuse to wear sandals and have their feet seen in public. It is caused by microscopic organisms called Dermatophytes. Dermatophytes grow in the nail bed, beneath the nail and live off keratin, the protein in the nail. The condition usually begins towards the far end of the nail and may start with patches of white or yellow discoloration. If the condition is left untreated, it will proceed to the base of the nail.

Fungus gnat Fungus gnats can be a serious pest in greenhouses where they can damage the roots of plants. They ... feed on fungi and decaying plant material. For more information about fungus gnats as pests of ornamentals, consult Ornamentals and Turf Insect Note 29 Occasionally, fungus gnats become a nuisance indoors in both residential and commercial buildings when adults emerge in large numbers from potted plants or some other chronic source of moisture (and subsequent mold growth). Adults are attracted to lights and are often first noticed at windows or light fixtures.

Fungus No More – Maximum Strength for toenail fungus Fungus does not "live" in finger or toenails since these nails are made up of dead cells. It’s the fungus in the surrounding live tissue that causes the nails to grow thick, yellow, and brittle. Fungus No More does not penetrate the finger or toenail itself. Rather, it effectively kills the fungal infection in the surrounding tissues, allowing the new nail growth to be healthy and clean in appearance.
Fungus gnats may breed anywhere that suitable molds might grow. A Fungus gnat infestation in a home could mean a moisture problem is present. Although fungus grows in areas such as moist wood (the result of leaks or poor insulation) and poorly ventilated crawlspaces and attics, most infestations are associated with moist potting soil. Look for adult Fungus gnats in areas where moisture problems have been observed or are suspected; fungus gnat eggs and larvae are more often not on the exposed surface of soil and are too small to see without good magnification.
