Durian (Turian): Known as the "King of Fruits", durian is admired for its unique taste. The ripe flesh of the durian is truly delicious but can perhaps best be enjoyed when mixed with glutinous rice and coconut milk. Durian is grown in abundance in the East and South, and although there are many different varieties, Morn Thong, Kan Yao and Chanee are the most famous.

Fruits is a collection of Tokyo street fashion portraits from Japan's premier street fanzine of the same name. Fruits was established in 1994, by photographer Shoichi Aoki, initially as a project to document the growing explosion in street fashion within the suburbs of Tokyo. Over the last five years, the magazine has grown to cult status and is now avidly followed by thousands of Japanese teenagers who ... use the magazine as an opportunity to check out the latest styles and trends. The average age of the kids featured in the magazine is between 12 and 18, and the clothes that they wear are a mixture of high fashion ffect. This extensive collection of portraits represents a unique documentation of the changing face of street fashion throughout the last decade. Colourful, fascinating and funny, this is the first time these cult images have been published outside Japan.

Pretreating fruits prior to drying is highly recommended. Pretreating helps keep light-colored fruits from darkening during drying and storage and it speeds the drying of fruits with tough skins, such as grapes and cherries. Research studies have shown that pretreating with an acidic solution or sodium metabisulfite dip ... enhances the destruction of potentially harmful bacteria during drying, including Escherichia coli O157:H7, Salmonella species and Listeria monocytogenes. There is a wide variety of fruits available, though these are mostly imports from neighbouring countries. A favorite is the durian, known as the "king of the fruits", which has a spiky outer shell and a characteristic odour. However, in spite of its popularity, durian is not allowed on public transport, most hotels and public buildings because of its strong odour. Other popular tropical fruits include mangosteen, jackfruit, longan, lychee, rambutan and pineapple.
