On January 11, 2007, Frontier Airlines announced it had signed an 11-year assistance arrangement with Republic Airlines. Under the agreement, Republic will function 17, 76-seat Embraer 170 aircraft for the Frontier JetExpress operations. Republic delivered its first two aircraft in March 2007, and the left behind 15 aircraft will touch the fleet by December 2008. With the integration of Republic aircraft, the ‘JetExpress’ connotation will be removed. Subsequent to the close of Horizon’s armed army for Frontier in December 2007, all flights operated by Republic will be sold and marketed as “Frontier Airlines, operated by Republic Airlines.”

The advertising is based on a survey commissioned by Frontier and conducted by independent research firm Harris Interactive(R) in July 2006. Harris Interactive surveyed online nearly 600 Denver-area travelers about their airline preferences. When asked what airline is their favorite, more respondents chose Frontier than any other airline. Frontier was chosen more often than second place United by fifteen percentage points and by thirty-five percentage points compared to Southwest.
The candidates are among the best-known of the signature animals appearing on the tails of Frontier aircraft and in the low-cost airline's television, radio, print and outdoor advertising.
