Frogs (Reptiles and Amphibian): Wild
built 175 days ago
Frogs in the wild are often in new places, and therefore adapt well to new surroundings. Changing the way the aquarium is set up will lead the frog to believe that the space he lives in is larger than it actually is.

Most of the dwarf African clawed frogs in the pet trade are bred commercially in the USA (Florida), the Czech Republic, Germany, Hong Kong, Poland and Indonesia. There are some wild-caught imports available from Lagos in Nigeria, Cameroon and possibly other African countries. Wild-caught animals are more difficult to screen medically, and the method used to acquire them may negatively impact the natural wetlands, as well as affect the wild populations. Research your pet sources and know the facts first!

In the wild, most frogs live just a few years. In captivity, a well-cared-for frog can live as long as 20 years. In a few instances, frogs have lived nearly twice that long.

Poison dart frogs are not poisonous in captivity, because they lack the toxins come from their diet in the wild. However, as with all frogs, you should handle them as little as possible since their skin is delicate and easily injured.
