Friday is a 1995 comedy buddy film directed by F. Gary Gray. Starring Ice Cube, Chris Tucker, Nia Long, Bernie Mac, Tom Lister, Jr. and John Witherspoon, the film revolves around 16 hours in the lives of Craig Jones (Ice Cube) and Smokey (Chris Tucker), who must pay $200 to a drug dealer before 10:00 p.m. on Friday night. "Friday" is populated with stand-up comedians and sitcom veterans (including LaWanda Page as a foul-mouthed church lady). Chris Tucker is ... an experienced comedian, which allows him to carry the film. As for Ice Cube, he's funny precisely because he's not a comedian. In his dramatic roles, Cube's raised eyebrows usually unleashed a fearsome glare and a hint of danger; here, his expressions are more quizzical, amused or confused. He plays against type, just as the movie itself plays against hype.

Chris Mulkey is the newest member of the Friday Night Lights cast. He takes over for Coach Taylor, as the new Dillon high school head football coach. Coach Taylor is of course moving to Austin to take a coaching job with TMU. Coach Taylor will still remain the main character on the show. As Mulkey's character changes the Panther's style, many team members begin to not like their new coach. Jason Street as the assistant coach must calm the situation.
