built 659 days ago
Frida Frida Kahlo (Salma Hayek) is an tempestuous teenager, when she suffers a bus accident in Mexico. Her column and leg have multiples fractures and she is impaled by a metal bar. Her father and mother spend all the money they have in surgeries and treatments, and in the end... due to her will and strength, she walks again. Frida shows her paintings to the famous painter, intellectual and communist Diego Rivera (Alfred Molina) to criticize them. He finds them excellent and they become friend, lovers and get married to each other. Diego is very unfaithful to her and has many night stands with his models, but when he has an affair with Frida's sister Cristina, their marriage ends and they divorce.

However, she championed the poor people and eventually joined the Communist Party. When Kahlo met and married Diego Rivera, he was already famous for painting tremendous murals about political subjects on the city's public buildings. She had learned to paint while recuperating from her accident. But Rivera ... encouraged Kahlo to express her radical ideas and powerful feelings for the Mexican Indians through her art.

Hayek, who has been shepherding Frida Kahlo through her Ventanarosa shingle, has a script by Rodrigo Garcia (Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her). The two projects are similar in that both focus on Kahlo's relationship with Rivera and their place in high society in Mexico.
After her recovery, Frida Kahlo started hanging out with a group of Mexican artists who introduced her to well-known Mexican muralist, Diego Rivera. Rivera immediately recognized her talent and encouraged her to continue painting. In August of 1929, Rivera and Frida Kahlo got married, but their relationship, was a little messed up - they both had a lot of affairs. Frida was romantically linked with tons of movie stars, artists, and politicians from all over the world.
