Alternative Press stated in their February 2007 review that Freya’s new album Lift The Curse is music that can start prison riots. The album received four out of five stars in Revolver and a solid eight out of ten in Decibel and Outburn magazines. Holland’s Lords Of Metal webzine says that these songs will become classics in years to come. Both critics and fans in the worldwide mainstream/underground metal and hardcore scenes agree that Lift The Curse is one of the most powerful and captivating releases of the year. This is a must have CD for fans of Hatebreed, Slayer, and the bands previous endeavor the legendary Earth Crisis. Freya delivers the same dosage of ultra-aggressive metallic hardcore as they did with their former band sans the technical approach.

Freya is one of the major Goddesses of Norse Mythology. Equal in prowess to Thor, Freya is nearly the equal of Odin, the Allfather. She is the Goddess of Love and Beauty, one of the original fertility goddesses of the region. Patron of young lovers, Freya is viewed as a force for good in the world – protector of the weak, healer, granter of magic and source of love and peace. She listens to the prayers of men and women seeking love and helps them when she can.

As a Dragoon, Freya has the ability "Jump," which enables her to leave battle for a short amount of time and finally deliver a damaging blow on enemies from above. Unlike the Lancers of other Final Fantasy games (or equivalents to Lancers, such as Kain Highwind, Cid Highwind, possibly Kimahri Ronso), Freya possesses a set of special skills in addition to her job's traditional ability—a common theme in Final Fantasy IX. These skills are known as Dragon skills, and offer a range of attack, healing, and status-changing effects.

Having been a former gymnast, bodybuilder and skydiver, Freya has the balance and flexibility needed for rolling. Soon after she started Greenland style rolling, she was already teaching rolls at symposiums all over the world.

Freya was born a member of the Vanir gods, the daughter of Njord and sister of Freyr. In some accounts she married into the Aesirs by becoming Odin's wife. [See Norse Mythology - The Gods for the distinction between Vanir and Aesir gods.] She was the mother of Hnossa. Freya was a Norse goddess of love and fertility, war and wealth. Her attributes include a famous necklace named Brisingamen, acquired from the dwarves by sleeping with them, a cloak with the property of allowing her to transform into a bird, and a chariot driven by large cats. Freya lived in Folkvangr and, although she wasn't a war goddess per se, she received half of those killed in battle.

In 2003, Freya released As The Last Light Drains, that album is a blend of melody and devastatingly crushing heaviness. They were interviewed on Headbangers Ball and their video to the title track was in rotation for months. On the follow up to Last Light, Freya returned with a split recording with Victory Records label mates The Hoods in 2004. Peta2 made a video for the anti vivisection anthem from that release entitled Struggle To Survive, it is featured on Peta2’s Save # 99 DVD compilation. Freya appeared along with Lamb Of God, Shadows Fall, Goldfinger, and Fall Out Boy. Over 100,000 copies of that DVD were taken home by fans who attended The Sounds Of The Underground and Warped Tour.
