Looking at the results by age, Spanish and French used to be about equally-taught, but Spanish has been heavily favored over French in recent decades. Among adults 45 and older, 48% took Spanish, compared to 44% who studied French. Among younger adults... Spanish has a 70%-30% edge. Latin has almost completely fallen out of favor, dropping from 16% among adults 55 and older, to only 3% among those 18-44.

French stems are .2mm narrower where they fit into the steering column. A standard 7/8" / 22.2mm stem won't usually fit. In many cases, the limiting factor for fitting the stem in will be the headset locknut, rather than the steerer itself. Try removing the locknut before sanding down a stem. If the headset locknut is slightly tighter than the steerer, it can be enlarged easily with a small grinding wheel.

There are many places to try French food in France, from three-star Michelin restaurants to French "brasseries" or "bistros" that you can find at almost every corner, especially in big cities. These usually offer a relatively consistent and virtually standardised menu of relatively inexpensive cuisine. To obtain a greater variety of dishes, a larger outlay of money is often necessary. In general, one should try to eat where the locals do for the best chance of a memorable meal. Most small cities or even villages have local restaurants which are sometimes listed in the most reliable guides. There are ... specific local restaurants, like "bouchons lyonnais" in Lyons, "crêperies" in Brittany (or in the Montparnasse area of Paris), etc.

The Ph.D. Program in French at The Graduate Center ranked second in the country for the scholarly achievement of its faculty, according to the Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index. Further, in the “broad” category of humanities, the Graduate Center was fourth after Harvard, Yale, and Princeton. The rankings take into account scholarly publications, honors and awards and grants. The research was conducted by Academic Analytics and an overview of the findings was reported in the January 12, 2007 issue of the Chronicle of Higher Education.

French was discovered in Paris, a throat disease of moderate severity. Symptoms include incomprehensible spoken language with excessive softness and a total lack of pronunciation of the hard vowels. A constant gargling when pronouncing the letter 'r' is an unpleasant side effect of the disease. The pest originated in France but rapidly spread to Canada and some parts of Africa. To limit the spread of the disease there is now an international effort known as the English language. This has all but wiped out the disease except from the areas of extreme prevalence.
