1. Michiana -- Michiana Free-Net
   The Michiana Free-Net is a true collaborative entity, combining the efforts of staff, volunteers, and community partners. The St. Joseph County Public Library, MCI, Notre Dame University, the Elkhart Truth and the Elkhart Public Schools have all been instrumental in the development and ongoing support of this project. The network hired Executive Director Steve Ross in 1996, a move made necessary by the rapid growth of the system. Michiana Free-Net has a support staff of five individuals composed of 2 paid staff and 3 volunteers. In addition, a board of directors comprised of citizens from all sectors of the community oversees the network's activities.
2. Newsgroups -- Outlook Express
   In most cases clicking here will bring your favorite mail agent (for example, Netscape Messenger, or Outlook), which will ask you whether you wish to download the list of newsgroups from the server. If you know exactly that there exists a server other than news.freenet.am, which is closer to you, then you should ask your ISP to provide detailed instructions on setting up a news reader. 3. Gnutella -- Files
   In contrast, Gnutella is a distributed searching system with obvious applications for humans and less obvious applications for automatons. Each Gnutella node is free to interpret the query as it wants, allowing Gnutella nodes to give hits in the form of filenames, advertising messages, URLs, graphics, and other arbitrary content. There is no such flexibility in the Freenet system.
4. Michiana
   The Michiana Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America (the "Chapter") is one of many affiliates of the BMW Car Club of America (BMW CCA). This Chapter serves members in western lower Michigan and northern Indiana. When you join the BMW CCA, you are automatically assigned membership in a local chapter. No additional dues are collected beyond those paid to the national organization (BMW CCA).
5. Peer-to-Peer -- Computers
   Peer-to-peer networking is the utilization of the relatively powerful computers (personal computers) that exist at the edge of the Internet for more than just client-based computing tasks. The modern personal computer (PC) has a very fast processor, vast memory, and a large hard disk, none of which are being fully utilized when performing common computing tasks such as e-mail and Web browsing. The modern PC can easily act as both a client and server (a peer) for many types of applications.
6. Internet -- Governments
   Perhaps the least understood aspect of the Internet is its management. In recent years, this subject has become the subject of intense commercial and international interest, involving multiple governments and commercial organizations, and recently congressional hearings. At issue is how the Internet will be managed in the future, and, in the process, what oversight mechanisms will insure that the public interest is adequately served.
7. Michiana -- Indiana University
   Michiana is a region in northern Indiana and southwestern Michigan centered on the city of South Bend, Indiana. The Chamber of Commerce of St. Joseph County (Indiana) defines Michiana as "counties that contribute at least 500 inbound commuting workers to St. Joseph County daily." Those counties include Elkhart, La Porte, Marshall, St. Joseph, and Starke in Indiana, and Berrien and Cass in Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the population of those seven counties was 840,697 (627,140 in Indiana and 213,557 in Michigan).
8. Internet Router -- Networks
   To connect multiple hosts to the IPv6 Internet using the Freenet6 service, you need a Linux host to provide router advertisement for the rest of the hosts on your network. Freenet6 service will provide you with a /48 IPv6 prefix, which allows a site to deploy up to 2^16 subnets. Each subnet can handle 2^64 nodes. The number of Unicast IPv6 addresses you can use with only one /48 prefix is very large: 65,535 subnets * 18 446 744 073 709 551 616.
9. Free E Mail -- E-Mail
   According to Google's new policy, altered Monday, the Web search company prohibits Gmail subscribers from selling, trading or transferring the free e-mail accounts "for any unauthorized commercial purpose." It ... bars people from setting up multiple accounts in violation of the policy.
10. Tiscali
    The service is due at the end of 2008, and will be Sim only meaning that Tiscali will not be involved in subsidising mobile handsets for its customers. Subscribers will have to buy a new phone from elsewhere or use their existing phone.
