Frank Welker

Frank Welker was the voice of Megatron and Galvatron in the G1 cartoon series. He only voiced Megs in the 1986 movie, not Galvatron. Michael Bay didn't want him in the new movie but Activision sent a big F U to Michael Bay and used Frank as the voice of the new megatron in the video game. Thanks for all the encouraging posts everyone!

Frank Welker, the busiest voice actor in Hollywood, is a self-proclaimed Gym Major, "That makes animal noises for a living." Heard in Disney full-length animated features, Saturday morning cartoons, movies, radio, Walt Disney World and much more. His career ranges from the 1960's to present and his talents as an actor, stand-up comedian, impressionist and special vocal effects artist knows no boundaries!

Launching his career as a stand-up comedian in 1967, Frank Welker opened for such acts as the Righteous Brothers, Sergio Mendez and Brazil 66, The Fifth Dimension and Glen Campbell. Welker's TV credits include comedy-ensemble stints on The Don Knotts Show (1971) and the syndicated Laugh Trax (1982). Despite his occasional on-camera appearances, Welker is best known as one of the most versatile voiceover specialists in show business. His specialty is a dead-on impression of the Three Stooges' Curly Howard, which he utilized to peak effect in the Hanna-Barbera TV cartoon weekly Jabberjaw (1976). To list all of his credits would take a couple of weeks at best: in Hal Erickson's encyclopedic 1995 volume Television Cartoon Shows, Welker is mentioned no fewer than 110 times! Some of his more memorable TV cartoon credits include Itsy Bitsy Spider (title character), Duck Tales, Captain Planet, Garfield and Friends, The Jetsons, Tiny Toon Adventures, Real Adventures of Jonny Quest and Batman: The Animated Series.

Sorry Paula, Frank Welker does not voice Eeyore. Eeyore was originally voiced by the late Ralph Wright (who was ... a major writer for Disney); his current voice actor is Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime to Frank's Megatron) and in Kingdom Hearts II, Eeyore is voiced by Gregg Berger. -Doreen

From all appearances, Frank Welker may be just about the most prolific voice actor that ever lived. Starting out in standup comedy in the late 1960s, he entered the voice-over business through commercials, which in turn led to being cast as Fred Jones on SCOOBY-DOO, WHERE ARE YOU! in 1969, a role he has had ample opportunity to reprise over the years, even as recently as 2002's interactive video game SCOOBY-DOO: NIGHT OF 100 FRIGHTS and 2003's direct-to-video feature SCOOBY-DOO AND THE LEGEND OF THE VAMPIRE. Although it would take the somewhat reclusive Welker a couple of decades to reach the status he now enjoys in the industry as a "voice-over god," he has always been busy, and it seems he can do anything with his voice, from imaginary telephone calls to the sound of doors opening and closing. His perhaps greatest (and most often utilized) specialty is animalistic sounds of any imaginable type. Rangy, dexterous, and durable, Welker's talents have been used to great effect in literally hundreds of projects -- and who knows how many thousand single series installments -- and be his efforts on-screen or off, they comprise a truly exhaustive (and exhausting) body of work.

Frank W. Welker (February 16, 1945-) is an American voice god actor. Though it is but the tip of the iceberg, some of Welker's most notable roles include Fred from Scooby Doo, Ray and Slimer from The Real Ghostbusters, Nibbler from Futurama, Dr. Claw from Inspector Gadget and that parrot that got eaten by the shark in Deep Blue Sea. He has ... done nearly all the animal sounds recorded for cartoons in North America in the last few decades.
