Dolly Sinatra, Frank's mother, was born Natalie Garaventi. When Frank was born, she was disappointed. Why? She wanted a girl!! In fact, prior to his birth, she had already bought lots of pink clothes. She dressed Frank in those pink outfits, rather than discard them.
''Ocean's Eleven'' (1960) was the first of three Sinatra films to feature the star surrounded by the hard-drinking, high-living clique -- nicknamed the Rat Pack -- that included Dean Martin, Peter Lawford, Sammy Davis Jr. and Joey Bishop. The group was an outgrowth of a social circle that had centered on Humphrey Bogart, who died in 1957. The Rat Packers would appear together in three more lighthearted capers: ''Sergeants Three'' (1962), ''Four for Texas'' (1963) and ''Robin and the Seven Hoods'' (1964). This was the other side of Sinatra. As carefully as he plumbed his music, after 1960 he seemed largely to be walking through his movies.

Sinatra continued to act in several movies in the 1960s, including Ocean's 11 (1960), The Manchurian Candidate (1962), Robin and the Seven Hoods (1964), and Tony Rome (1967). Many critics felt several of these films had declined in artistic merit. Sinatra became known as part of a group of friends called the "Rat Pack." It included entertainers Dean Martin (1917–1995), Sammy Davis Jr. (1925–1990), Joey Bishop, and Peter Lawford.

Sinatra returned to film in 1977 with a television movie, ''Contract on Cherry Street,'' which was poorly received, as was his last major Hollywood role, as an aging detective in ''The First Deadly Sin'' (1980). In 1984, he briefly appeared as himself in ''Cannonball Run 2.'' For his 75th birthday in 1990, Capitol and Reprise each released extensive, elaborately packaged Sinatra retrospectives. Columbia had released a six-disk anthology four years earlier.

Frank Sinatra – "Vegas" – Frank Sinatra, vocals; with various orchestras - Reprise boxed set Overall, this is a superb package, and a must-have for Sinatra fans. There’s very little overlap of songs from disc to disc, and some really interesting song choices in a couple of places that I’d never have associated with Sinatra. The audio quality is uniformly excellent throughout, and the video content was both amusing and entertaining. Five stars – very highly recommended!
