The information about Frank Lampard’s leaving the Blues was released today, after Jorge Mendes – who is both Jose Mourinho and Deco’s agent – and some other Barcelona officials, arrived in London to talk to Peter Kenyon. Under the false pretext of trying to transfer Iceland’s Eidur Gudjohnson to Camp Nou, the Catalans started the bidding on the English midfielder.
Frank James Lampard is an English football player. He was born June 21, 1978 in Romford, London, England. He went to Brentwood School in Essex, where amongst other subjects, he studied Latin and gained an A grade. He is an English Premier League football player currently at Chelsea, and plays for England too. He is a midfielder and wears the number 8.
Heaven knows chickendinner is not over-inclined to believe the press on this subject, but clearly there's an interesting contradiction here (Frank wants to stay/ Frank wants to go) and an information vacuum that only speculation can fill. No other player in the Premiership makes a more theatrical display of his "love" for his club (a special variety of love that can only exist in a financially acceptable climate - if United were signing the cheques he'd love them just as much too) so it would seem wise to try and manage the story a little more. Instead, the press make him look like a greedy little schemer and then he wonders why he gets booed with such enthusiasm.
Lampard celebrating with Chelsea and England team-mate John Terry. In the 2002–03 season for Chelsea, Lampard enjoyed a solid season, not missing a match throughout the campaign. He enjoyed a fruitful start to the season, scoring the winning goal in the opening league game of the season in a 3–2 victory over Charlton, and scoring again a week later against Southampton. He followed up this good early-season goal-scoring form by notching a strike against Viking in the UEFA Cup, a tie which Chelsea went on to lose. Lampard scored eight goals in all competitions as Chelsea finished fourth in the Premiership, giving him the chance to play in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in his career.
Barcelona sports daily, the imaginatively named Sport has gone with an entirely unsubstantiated theory on Princess Frank Lampard's next employer, as he is no longer negotiating a new contract with Chelsea, according to no one. "The English player is probably waiting for a call from Barcelona regarding his future," they reckon. "The English star would come with a huge price tag, but Barcelona could probably get that down with some hard bargaining and by offering a player that may be of interest to Chelsea, like Deco perhaps." No matter that Deco has already passed through Chelsea's digestive system once, they go on to assert that as the relationship between "Lamps" and Chelsea has broken down, so he can leave with Mourinho's blessing. Really! Shopkeepers of Barcelona, on guard!
