Fornication
built 185 days ago
Fornication can ... be between unmarried persons. It does not take a rocket scientist to see that if two people are single and not married to each other they can commit fornication. Fornication is all sexual conduct except that between a man and wife. If a married person has relations with anyone to whom they are not married this is fornication. Is it possible? Must be because Jesus said so in Matthew 19:1-10.

Fornication is a sin against oneself. Paul said, "Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body, but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body" I Corinthians 6:18. The body of the believer belongs to God. He has been bought with a price and is to glorify God while in the flesh. All of this is clearly taught in this chapter.

Fornication laws did have their day, though. According to historian Cornelia Dayton (as cited in an article by law professor Anne Coughlin), fornication comprised the single largest part of the criminal docket in New England from 1690 to 1760.

Fornication, or simple fornication, is a term which refers to consensual sexual intercourse between two persons not married to each other[1]. In contrast adultery is consensual sex where one or both of the partners are married to someone else.

Only an unmarried and never-been-married person can commit Fornication. What they really mean is that an act of INFIDELITY or UNFAITHFULNESS has occurred. Trying to fit Matthew 5:32 & 19:9 and Fornication into the situation is total misapplication of scripture.

Flowing from Jewish tradition, most translations of the New Testament forbid fornication: ("Fornicators, idolaters, adulterers,... will not inherit the kingdom of God".<ref>A paraphrasing of 1 Corintians 6:9-10</ref> This is reflected in both major doctrines <ref>Catechism of the Catholic Church</ref>, and in commentaries<ref>eg: "The New Testament is characterized by an unconditional repudiation of all extra-marital and unnatural intercourse with animals." Dictionary of the New Testament, Friedrich Hauck and Siegfried Schulz (edited by Kittel and Friedrich) (Vol.6, p.590)</ref>. The original Koine Greek word translated as fornication is porneia (from which English derives "pornography"), and is unlikely to translate as fornicationTemplate:Fact; but can be justified where the Latin Bible offers fornicatio.
