Formula One is a famous racing sport around the world. Teams that compete in the sport include some of the world’s most famous car manufacturers and motor names, including McLaren-Mercedes, Ferrari, Williams, BMW-Sauber, Honda, Toyota and Renault. The teams have two race drivers, one or two reserve and test drivers.

Europe is Formula One's traditional centre and remains its leading market. However, Grands Prix are held all over the world and, with new races in Bahrain, China, Malaysia, Turkey and the United States since 1999, its scope continues to expand with Singapore scheduled to hold the first night race in 2008 and India being added to the schedule starting in 2010. Of the seventeen races in 2007, nine are outside Europe. As the world's most expensive sport, its economic effect is significant, and its financial and political battles are widely observed. Its high profile and popularity makes it an obvious merchandising environment, which leads to very high investments from sponsors, translating into extremely high budgets for the constructor teams. In recent years several teams have gone bankrupt or been bought out by other companies.

The Ford Motor Company's decision to pull out of Formula One exposed the vulnerability of some small teams. Jaguar Racing was put up for sale and bought by Red Bull; it is now known as Red Bull Racing. As for other teams, Jordan and Minardi both relied on Ford's Cosworth engines. Jordan now have a deal to use Toyota engines. Minardi, on the other hand, will continue to use Cosworth engines under Cosworth's new owners.

WilliamsF1, the trading name of Williams Grand Prix Engineering Ltd., is a Formula One (F1) motor racing team and constructor. It was founded and run by Sir Frank Williams and Patrick Head. The team was formed in 1977 after two earlier and, compared with WilliamsF1's achievements, unsuccessful F1 operations, Frank Williams Racing Cars and Walter Wolf Racing. All of WilliamsF1 chassis are called "FW" then a number, the FW being the initials of team owner, Frank Williams.

Aryton Senna's death changed the face of Formula One forever. The countless number of F1 safety changes to protect the drivers, teams, and fans have become the standard by which other forms of motor racing measure themselves. The cars undergo mandatory cockpit safety cell testing and a variety of other safety features have gone on to save lives. The drivers are required to use the HANS device and other rules stipulate that a driver can be removed from the car while still strapped into his seat. A pitlane speed limit and other rules were ... put in place to protect team members. The Safety Car has since become a highly modified automobile capable of keeping an appropriate pace without difficulties.
