Forestry: Natural Resources
built 213 days ago
Forestry is one of Australia's largest and most diverse land management, resource, and manufacturing sectors. Professional foresters work around Australia and around the world, managing native and planted forests for conservation, environmental services, and sustainable production. Foresters work in government and business, with NGOs and communities, and with farmers and other natural resource managers.

Forestry is bringing back forests. - Until the 1920s, forests were often logged and abandoned. Now, across the country an average of 1.7 billion seedlings are planted annually. That translates into six seedlings planted for every tree harvested. In addition, billions of additional seedlings are regenerated naturally.

Header image Forestry camp is a 5-day residential, outdoor workshop for 13 to 17 year olds. It's a great way for youth to learn about how New Mexicans use, care for, and appreciate the natural and cultural resources on their public lands. Resource professionals work with campers to learn about trees, streams, archaeology, insects, wildland fire, range management, wildlife, outdoor ethics, search and rescue, and soils and geology.
