Blount's Forestry Division manufactures and distributes purpose-built timber harvesting equipment, industrial tractors and loaders. The Forestry Division's products are distributed under the Prentice, Caterpillar and CTR brand names through a network of equipment dealers that possess leading market positions in most areas in which they compete. The Forestry Division represents approximately 20% and 6% of Blount's revenue and operating income, respectively.

In 1912, the Kentucky Legislature formed the Kentucky Division of Forestry. The initial emphasis for the division was to reduce the severity of wildfires in the state. Now the division's expanded mission is to protect and enhance the forest resources of the commonwealth through a public informed of the environmental and economic importance of these resources.

(BLT) announced today that Caterpillar is acquiring the assets of Blount's Forestry Division. In a separate transaction, six Caterpillar dealers have agreed in principle to acquire certain assets of Pioneer Machinery, Inc., a premier distributor of forestry products in the southeastern United States.
