The Ford Ranger is a compact pickup truck manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. First launched in the year 1983, the Ranger has seen four generations. The 2007 Ford Ranger is a part of the fourth-generation of the Ranger family. The first generation was produced from 1983 through 1988, while the second and third generations were produced from 1989-92 and 1993-97 respectively. The latest make of Ford Ranger has continued to be the same since 1998.
1983 - 1988 Ford Ranger Pickup 2WD Front Fender, Passenger Side The Ford Ranger Pickup 2WD vehicle is one vehicle that has been a hit on the market. This vehicle is very versatile and is today considered to be one of the most popular pickups on the market. The Ranger brand debuted as much as two decades ago and was the answer to the many compact pickups on the market b the Japanese makers. It had a great style and there was the offer of a large or small truck bed as well. The vehicle has gotten to be more and more powerful over the years and is considered to be one of the best all round choices.
The 2007 Ford Ranger has a special affinity for beaches, warm weather and fun. And at 24 miles per gallon in the city and 29 on the highway, Ranger has the best mileage of any compact pickup. Both Ranger manual and automatic transmissions have an overdrive 5th gear that helps conserve fuel while cruising at highway speeds.
Fordranger230 Automotive News is reporting that the plant responsible for building the engines for the Ford Ranger small pickup and the assembly plant itself will both shutter their doors by the end of 2009. The industry publication is extrapolating that with those two integral plants shut down, the Ranger won’t find a new home anywhere else and won’t get a redesign. The larger F-150 is the best-selling truck in the country and is due to be redesigned next year. Expect Ford to put all its dollars into that. And you thought the John Mellencamp Silverado ads were omnipresent.

Introduced for 1983, the Ford Ranger started life as a standard-cab, four-cylinder compact pickup truck with a choice of two bed lengths. The mid-'80s saw the introduction of the extended-cab body style known as the "SuperCab" which offered jump seats that were best left to kids. The Ranger continued through the early '90s with minor upgrades to the powertrains and small cosmetic changes until 1993, when the truck was completely revamped. As Ford's popular small pickup approached the new millennium, features such as a five-speed automatic transmission (for V6 models) and rack and pinion steering were added in an effort to keep the Ranger competitive.
