In editorial reviews, the Ford Excursion's size prevented it from scoring high marks as a daily driver. Steering feel was vague, and ride quality was rough and bouncy. Routine trips down the expressway were a chore, as continual steering correction was needed to keep the big Ford from wandering out of its lane. Acceleration was leisurely no matter which drivetrain you selected, as the engines were tasked with motivating more than 7,000 pounds of vehicle. In consumer reviews, the Excursion was praised for its roomy interior and panned for its interior styling and poor fuel economy.

Cruising along in a Ford Excursion gives you a secure feeling. It's smooth and quiet. The V10 is a delightful engine. It produces 310 horsepower and can propel the Excursion along the Interstate at high rates of speed. The V10 generates a very impressive 425 foot-pounds of torque at 3250 rpm. Tell someone you've got a V10 and they think you're driving a rocket. But an Excursion 4x4 weighs about 7,200-pounds, so its acceleration performance at high altitudes seems no better than an Explorer or Expedition.

The Ford Excursion was first introduced in the year 2000. The vehicle was a new and innovative design that was not initially well accepted. There was much criticism of the built and the size of the vehicle. This design was new to the industry and the public opinion was initially not very encouraging. There was much scepticism on the future of this vehicle. There ... was no major need for concern.

The 2005 Ford Excursion continues to be the(not needed) Ford's largest sport utility vehicle. This is a logical choice vehicle for anyone who is(not needed) needs space for nine people and their luggage, and doesn't mind frequent fuel stops. Engine choices include a super-duty Power Stroke diesel V-8. There are many new modifications in the latest Excursion. Notable amongst them are jeweled headlamps, new grille and bumper, revised wheels and new Eddie Bauer two-tone seating color scheme, with Medium Pebble surrounded by Charcoal Black.

A report in the Detroit News, meanwhile, suggested that Ford is looking at replacing the Excursion with the stretched version of the Ford Expedition. Dubbed the Expedition Max, the stretched version would be about 16 inches longer than the standard Expedition and could go into production next as a '07 model only about six months after Chevrolet launches a new Suburban, the News reported.
