2006 Ford Escape The Ford Escape is America's best-selling compact sport-utility. And it's a good choice. The Escape offers comfortable seating for four and plenty of space for stuff. Folding down the rear seats reveals a moderately sized cargo area with a flat floor. Its smooth ride and agile handling make for enjoyable driving, and its compact dimensions make it easy to maneuver and park when you get there.

Ford Escape The Ford Escape is a compact four-door SUV that received significant changes to its styling and interior for '08. Due to its light-duty four-wheel-drive system, fully independent suspension and unibody construction, it's more suited for on-road driving than off-roading. Its underlying structure was developed with Mazda's input, and the Tribute is very similar to the Escape. The Mercury Mariner is ... nearly identical to the Escape and differs mainly by having a few more features and different interior and exterior design details.

The Ford Escape, America’s best-selling compact utility vehicle, has a completely new look inside and out for 2008. Escape now makes a powerful statement with a bolder, rugged exterior design that bears a stronger family resemblance to the Ford Explorer and Ford Expedition. The all-new interior resets the bar for small utility vehicles, with more upscale appointments, new innovative storage options, and improved comfort and quietness. In addition, chassis refinements deliver impressive fuel economy and agile driving dynamics that belie the Escape’s rugged exterior.
Today, in the eighth installment in a series highlighting online consumer reviews of Ford Motor Company’s new products, verbatim comments on the 2008 Ford Escape posted on Yahoo! Autos (www.autos.yahoo.com) and Edmunds () are presented. Recently, the Yahoo! homepage (www.yahoo.com) featured a 2008 Ford Escape advertising “takeover” resulting in more than 500,000 “click-throughs” to the Escape launch Web site, www.boredomhurts.com. This has been one of the most successful Ford digital initiatives ever in terms of driving traffic back to the product information homepage.

The Ford Escape (Code U204) debuted in 2001 as a compact crossover SUV, priced below the Ford Explorer. It was jointly developed with Mazda, in which Ford owns a controlling interest, and was released a few months after the nearly-identical Mazda Tribute. The Escape is sold in Europe as the Ford Maverick. It is built on the Ford CD2 platform, which is in turn based on the Mazda GF platform.
The Ford Escape and Mazda Mariner were introduced in the 2001 model year and structurally modified beginning with 2005 models to improve occupant protection in frontal crashes. The Mercury Mariner, introduced in the 2005 model year... had the structural modifications. The Mazda Tribute skipped the 2007 model year. All three models were modestly restyled for the 2008 model year, and electronic stability control was added as a standard feature.
