Folic Acid: Risk
built 645 days ago
With vitamin b12, folic acid is involved in methionine (an amino acid) creation from homocysteine. Too much homocysteine is implicated in increased risk for heart disease, and occurs when there is a deficiency of the b vitamins required to turn it into methionine.

Heart Disease: A research group from the University of Washington found that taking folic acid can reduce the levels of the amino acid homocysteine in the blood. This lowering of homocysteines will, in turn, reduce the risks of heart disease, blood vessel disease, and strokes.
