Maxim sponsors flu shot clinics, beginning October 1, at hundreds of Pittsburgh locations including area Giant Eagle, Costco, CVS and Walmart stores, and many area fitness clubs and YMCA locations. Flu shots are administered only to individuals of 9 years of age or older at the Maxim Clinics.

To keep from catching the flu and potentially infecting dozens of others, students should spend the small amount of time and money needed for a flu shot. It won't even be a long walk: The shots are being offered at the White Hall Classroom Building and the W.T. Young Library, in addition to the Kentucky Clinic. Healthy persons, 2 to 49 years old, may also be eligible for the live intranasal flu vaccine, although supplies of this vaccine are limited. Interested parents may consult their child's primary care physician for more information.

Flu shots cost $30 and pneumonia shots (recommended for the elderly and those who have had pneumonia) are $45. The clinic will be in the airport for 90 days, seven days a week from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. All shots are administered by a nurse.
