Bakery products maker Flowers Foods Inc. predicted Thursday its 2008 earnings per share will grow between about 5 percent and 15 percent. The company's guidance implies earnings between $1.07 and $1.17 per share. Flowers Foods ... said sales will be between about $2.21 billion and $2.26 billion. Analysts predict sales of $2.2 billion for the year.
A year after the Ideal Baking acquisition, Flowers Foods repositioned the Healthline name as a sub-brand under the company's Nature's Own brand of soft variety breads. Under the Healthline banner, the company launched several new products and corralled existing products into a family of bread items that deliver specific dietary and health benefits.
THOMASVILLE, Ga., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Flowers Foods, Inc. (NYSE:FLO) announced today that due to family reasons, Jimmy M. Woodward, senior vice president and chief financial officer, will retire as an officer of the company effective September 15, 2007. Woodward will continue to serve in an advisory capacity for financial and related matters. R. Steve Kinsey, previously vice president and corporate controller, has been appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer by the company's board of directors.
Flowers Foods has reached a tentative agreement to purchase 30 acres in the newly constructed Nelson County Industrial Park, with an option to buy an additional 24 acres later. The company will build a 200,000 square-foot bakery that will house high-volume bread and bun production lines. The bread line is expected to be operational by fall 2008. A bun line will be added later.
