Part of the reason why the drug Flonase is effective at relieving nasal allergy symptoms is because it is applied locally—that is, directly inside your nose where you need it most. When taken as directed, Flonase spray effectively relieves nasal allergy symptoms.

Flonase works to reduce the inflammation that causes congestion, sneezing, itchy and runny noses. Flonase can provide 24-hour relief and curb multiple nasal symptoms simultaneously. Flonase is non-habit forming and will not cause drowsiness or sleepiness like many similar over the counter products.

Flonase (Flixonase / Flovent) means less congestion, sneezing, and itchy, runny nose due to your pesky allergy triggers like pollen, dust mites, and animal dander. Thanks to Flonase (Flixonase & Flovent), you can go through the day, either outdoors or indoors, without constantly sneezing or blowing your nose.

Flonase is taken in the nostrils. For best effect, take the prescribed doses at regular intervals. First, blow your nose. Then shake the spray bottle gently, prime the pump 6 times if it hasn't been used during the past week, tilt your head back, press one nostril closed, and insert the tip of the bottle a short way into the other nostril. Spray once, pull the tip of the bottle away from your nose, and inhale deeply through the treated nostril. Repeat with the other nostril.

At recommended doses, Flonase is effective and well tolerated. Side effects are generally mild and may include headache, nosebleed, or sore throat. There are no restrictions on its use if you are taking antibiotics or antifungals, or if you have heart disease.
