Pennetta clinched the inaugural Cachantun Cup yesterday after her opponent Klara Zakopalova was forced to quit the match are falling an injuring her left ankle. With Pennetta already leading 6-4, 5-4, it would have been nice if her Czech opponent could have found a way to finish the match.

Zakopalova had a little more trouble than Pennetta, but managed to hold off Ukraine's Mariya Koryttseva for a 6-2, 7-5 win. The Czech, who, like her opponent on Sunday, turns 26 later this month, is in search of her third career title, her first since 2005. Zakopalova will appear in her seventh career final on Sunday.

The victory at this Tier III tournament represents Pennetta's first title since Bangkok in 2007 and her fourth career win in five tries against Zakopalova. It was Pennetta's first win against the Prague native since 2004 in Sopot.
