This Evergreen USB adaptor is for people who like to play with slots - of the flash memory kind. It's a USB memory stick with a slot for memory cards, so it's more like an adaptor, really. They have all sorts of models, ones which accept anything from Compact Flash, Secure Digital, micro SD, MMC and Memory Stick. more

The new Flash memory PMC comes in forced air-cooled and standard ANSI/VITA 20 conduction-cooled mechanical formats as well as in commercial, rugged and military grade configurations. All boards feature metal thermal frames for excellent rigidity and shock resistance for trouble-free performance, even in high stress military environments. Thermal heatsinks on the M222 combine to allow optimal heat transfer to the enclosure's sidewalls. The single-slot PMC module connects to, and takes all of its power from, the CompactPCI, VMEbus or PCI base board.

The Flashblock extension will help reduce memory usage by giving you control over the loading of flash images. Also, version 8.0.24.0 of Flash plugin can continually consume memory while you are on a web page that includes Flash content. [16] Workarounds are to remove the Flash plugin, block Flash content, or manually navigate away from pages with Flash. This problem is supposedly fixed in the latest Flash Player 9.
A USB flash drive. The chip on the left is the flash memory. The microcontroller is on the right. One limitation of flash memory is that although it can be read or programmed a byte or a word at a time in a random access fashion, it must be erased a "block" at a time. This generally sets all bits in the block to 1. Starting with a freshly erased block, any location within that block can be programmed. However, once a bit has been set to 0, only by erasing the entire block can it be changed back to 1. In other words, flash memory (specifically NOR flash) offers random-access read and programming operations, but cannot offer arbitrary random-access rewrite or erase operations. A location can... be rewritten as long as the new value's 0 bits are a superset of the over-written value's.
If you've got the schematics for the next big gadget saved on your thumb drive, one of Rehoboth Tech's Irikon flash memory sticks might be as secure as it gets. Touted as the world's first iris-scanning USB drive, the Irikon can remember up to 20 different eyes as authorized users and comes in sizes of 1GB to 4GB. more

The Microsoft Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 is the industry's first rechargeable notebook mouse with 1 GB of Flash memory built into the transceiver. Designed to free up USB ports, the single transceiver is a three-in-one supertool that lets users simultaneously work wirelessly, save important files with 1 GB of storage and recharge the mouse without deficiency in performance, all through one USB port. And because the Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 works while recharging, users don't have to interrupt their work to charge the mouse.
