This new public service campaign, called Pledge to Prepare, will help educate families about specific actions they can take to be ready for fires and other home emergencies. In 2004, campaign efforts will focus on communicating the importance of fire safety.

NEW YORK, March 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mortgage rates soared this week, returning to the six percent threshold for the first time since August 2004. The average 30-year fixed rate mortgage jumped from 5.87 percent to 6 percent, according to Bankrate.com's weekly national survey of large lenders.
