Phillips (centre on settee) in a promotional still of GMTV presenters Phillips joined GMTV at the beginning of 1993 as entertainment correspondent and was promoted to GMTV/Reuters Television's LA correspondent in December 1993. For over two years Fiona provided daily/weekly reports and covered a number of big news stories including the Michael Jackson alleged child molestation case, the LA earthquake, the OJ Simpson trial and the Oscars. She ... interviewed some of the screen's hottest names from Leonardo di Caprio and Clint Eastwood, to Brad Pitt and Mel Gibson. In 1996 Fiona was nominated for the RTS Interview of the Year Award. Since 1997, she has been the main presenter on the ITV1 morning show, GMTV. Many people believe she is still the anchorwoman, however the GMTV website states that it is now Kate Garraway.
Fiona Phillips Fiona was born in Canterbury and educated in Southampton. She trained in the medical profession as a radiographer before graduating from the University of Birmingham with a BA (Hons) in English. She then gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Radio Journalism. She started her broadcasting career working for local radio stations before moving on to present BBC South and East’s “Weekend Programme” and later she joined Sky News as a news reporter before being promoted to Entertainment Editor.
Phillips is hardly out of the news at the moment. When Heather Mills decided it was time to self-immolate in public, she went to Fiona Phillips and GMTV, ITV's breakfast show. Last week it emerged that Mills is not the only public figure who approaches Phillips when in a crisis - the Sunday papers revealed that Gordon Brown had offered her a job as a health minister.

The family's packing plant served as the source of the crab used by Phillips Crab House, as it would serve for additional restaurants opened by the family. A second dining establishment was opened in 1973, when Phillips-By-The-Sea... located in Ocean City, debuted. A third Ocean City restaurant opened four years later, an establishment called Phillips Seafood House, which featured three dining rooms, two kitchens, and seating for 350 patrons. After 20 years of exposure in Ocean City, where three restaurants served to broadcast the association of the Phillips name with crab, the family was ready to expand outside of Ocean City. Many of the visitors to Ocean City were tourists from nearby metropolitan areas such as Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. The family made the natural deduction that those who frequented its restaurants in Ocean City might enjoy the Phillips brand of seafood in their home cities. Accordingly, in 1980 the family opened Phillips Harborplace in Baltimore's newly revamped Inner Harbor.
Fiona Phillips Fiona has interviewed some of the screen’s hottest names including Demi Moore, Mel Gibson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Eddie Murphy, Elton John and Bette Midler. She has reported on a number of US news stories including the alleged Michael Jackson child molestation case and the recent LA earthquake.

In her column, published in Britain’s Mirror newspaper, today - Fiona said: “Heather has had a tough life. She’s not light-hearted or naturally warm. She does like attention but that doesn’t warrant the systematic destruction of her character.”
