Final Fight: Games

In Final Fight One's defense, this is supposed to be a retro title, not a remake or an updating. Because of this, most gamers go into it knowing what to expect. As far as staying true to the original goes, the game does an excellent job of bringing the arcade experience to the GBA.

Final Fight was one of the best arcade games of all time. It was a simple side-scrolling fighting game which took you through the mean streets of Metro City. It was definitely one of the most enjoyable games in the arcade, right up there with other titles such as Super Smash TV that are now being revived in places such as the Xbox Live Arcade.

Gameplay - The Game Boy Advanced version of Final Fight keeps every level from the arcade where the SNES didn’t. Final Fight consists of six stages, all of which are swarming with hordes of street punks just waiting to break every bone in your body. Whether your fighting in central park or the back allies of the city, you’ll never have more than a minute to rest your fists. The game is utterly action packed to the limit and no matter how many times you play it through, you’ll find yourself being just as entertained as ever. The five difficulty levels allow you to test your skills as very easy leaves for punks without brains, and the very hard mode points the “I’m with stupid” finger towards you. It’s all a matter of button mashing at the beginning, but depending on the difficulty, you’ll be using more tactics as the difficulty adjusts.
In the original arcade version of Final Fight released in Japan, during the game's opening intro, Jessica is shown wearing only her bra when Haggar turns the TV monitor. The shot was removed from the North American and Worldwide versions of the game. Instead, the scene cuts directly to Damnd while Jessica can be heard screaming in the background.

Final Fight Revenge has a disappointing lack of extras or unlockables. In fact, there are none whatsoever. About the only item of note is if your system language is set to English, all of the in-game text will be English as well. A cool little trick for importers, but hardly what one would deem a secret.
Final Fight was ported by Capcom to the Sharp Sharp X68000 computer in Japan. This version was considered an accurate port of the arcade game, with the only notable difference being a reduction of the number of on-screen enemies. The X68000 was capable of near arcade quality graphics and sound (more so than the Sega CD version), and included a simultaneous 2 player mode, which was not available in the SNES version. European-based U.S. Gold ... released ports of Final Fight for the Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64, Sinclair Spectrum and Amstrad CPC. The Amiga version was considered to be one of the worst arcade to computer conversions ever made. The game suffered from slowdown, having only a one-button joystick for control and was panned for what seemed to be no effort on the programmers part to make the game play anything like the original.
