Final Fantasy Origins is a must have. Especially FFI, which shows many, many hours of gameplay and won’t bore you very quickly. FFII is ... very nice to have, due to the good storyline and the different level-up system you should’ve at least tried. All in all, a true FF fan should have this in his or her collection. Though a casual gamer should also buy this, because it’s a piece of excellent RPG-history.
Final Fantasy Origins Final Fantasy Origins delivers the first two games in the Final Fantasy series. Originally released in 1998 in Japan, Final Fantasy II never came to North America, but now RPG fans will be able to experience the emotion-packed sequel and its predecessor with all-new event scenes, enhanced graphics, and improved sound. Whether you're on a quest to recover a magical Crystal or on a journey to stop a merciless ruler, both games provide grand stories complemented with deep characterization and touching music.
Box artwork for Final Fantasy Origins. Released well after the PlayStation 2, Final Fantasy Origins was the third and final collection of Final Fantasy games to be ported to the PlayStation. At that point, all Final Fantasy games except Final Fantasy III were available on the PS1. It would ... be the first time that Final Fantasy II was released in the US. The games contained enhanced graphics as well as a couple of FMV cutscenes. In a move that was both hated and loved by the fans, an "easy mode" was included, which reduced the strength of enemies, increased your party's strength, and reduced the amount of experience needed to gain levels. They also contained the "quick save" feature of the other compilations, allowing players to save anywhere.
In 2003, when the game was finally released to English-speaking audiences as part of Final Fantasy Origins, it was released with a brand new translation produced under the supervision of Akira Kashiwagi. NeoDemiforce's fan translation of the game, similarly, made use of an original translation, as the existence of the prototype cartridge was not common knowledge at the time.
