FINAL FANTASY XI, the first cross-platform, cross-continent massively multi-player online role-playing game (MMORPG) will be accessible on Xbox 360 for the first time to players in North America, Europe and Japan. Gamers will be able to communicate and play together no matter where they are or from what platform they connect -- the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system, Windows operating system or Xbox 360 (platform based on region availability). FINAL FANTASY XI has more than 500,000 subscribers in North America, Europe and Japan, combined. The story of FINAL FANTASY XII takes place in a world called �Ivalice,� in an age when magic was commonplace and airships plied the skies, crowding out the heavens. War was on the horizon. Seeking to strengthen its base of power, the great Archadian Empire had been invading and subjugating its neighboring kingdoms one by one. The small Kingdom of Dalmasca was one such kingdom. Our story follows Vaan, a young man living on the streets of Dalmasca�s Royal City of Rabanastre, the Princess Ashe, the sole remaining heir to the Dalmascan throne who had been given up for missing, as well as Vaan�s friend Penelo, the sky pirate Balthier, Balthier�s partner Fran and many more on an adventure through Ivalice that traces the mysteries behind the Archadian Empire�s invasion.

In FINAL FANTASY XI, players will become immersed in an expansive, original storyline that includes quests and boss battles. They can participate in missions either alone or with other party members and acquire skills such as alchemy, leatherworking, jewel crafting, fishing and many more. Various communications tools have been incorporated into FINAL FANTASY XI to assist communication between players, including easy-to-use chat and messaging systems.

The previous two expansion packs, Chains of Promathia and Rise of the Zilart, will not be required to use the third expansion for previous Final Fantasy XI players. However, the Xbox 360 version will include the original Final Fantasy XI, the two previous expansion packs and the new Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion pack for a retail price of $49.99. The Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion pack for the Playstation 2 and the Windows operation system will carry a retail price of $29.99.

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XII will be available in PAL territories in early 2007. The disappointingly vague release date for the PlayStation 2 role-playing game means that European gamers will have to wait at least two months longer than US gamers, who will be able to buy the game on October 31, 2006. The PAL version will be a full-screen, full-speed conversion that will feature English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish translation.
