1. Internet Protocol Suite -- Data
   The Internet protocol suite came from work done by Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in the early 1970s. After building the pioneering ARPANET in the late 1960s, DARPA started work on a number of other data transmission technologies. In 1972, Robert E. Kahn was hired at the DARPA Information Processing Technology Office, where he worked on both satellite packet networks and ground-based radio packet networks, and recognized the value of being able to communicate across them. In the spring of 1973, Vinton Cerf, the developer of the existing ARPANET Network Control Program (NCP) protocol, joined Kahn to work on open-architecture interconnection models with the goal of designing the next protocol for the ARPANET.
2. Internet Protocol Suite -- Computers
   The Internet Protocol (IP) is the method or protocol by which data is sent from one computer to another on the Internet. Each computer (known as a host) on the Internet has at least one IP address that uniquely identifies it from all other computers on the Internet. When you send or receive data (for example, an e-mail note or a Web page), the message gets divided into little chunks called packets. Each of these packets contains both the sender's Internet address and the receiver's address. Any packet is sent first to a gateway computer that understands a small part of the Internet. The gateway computer reads the destination address and forwards the packet to an adjacent gateway that in turn reads the destination address and so forth across the Internet until one gateway recognizes the packet as belonging to a computer within its immediate neighborhood or domain.

   This blend of fact and fiction, written and directed by Luis Valdez, was based on the Sleepy Lagoon murder case and the 1940s Zoot Suit Riots in Los Angeles. 5. Internet Protocol Suite -- Layers
   The Internet Protocol Suite was originally developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and then included with the Berkeley Software Distribution of Unix. IP version 4 is the most commonly used version... there is a slow migration around the work to IP version 6. Internet Protocol works by breaking up data into datagrams for transfer across almost any Layer 2 medium (LAN, MAN or WAN). The datagrams are then reassembled at the destination. 6. File Format -- File Formats
   File format object classes provide access to data stored within files of certain types. For example, the IDLffXMLSAX and IDLffXMLDOM classes provide access to attribute information stored in .xml files. The IDLffLangCat class ... provides access to XML data. However, this object allows you to access XML data stored in language catalog files (.cat), which can be used to support internationalization. File format objects may or may not have a graphical element that can be displayed.
7. File Format
   Signatures in files are used to easily identify file formats by automatic identifier tools, as well as by general software. In the 1980's file signatures would consists of only 2 bytes (or 2 characters), but with the amount of file formats in existence today, this creates several duplicate identification. It is strongly suggested that your signature consist of at least 8 bytes or 8 characters.
8. Scanner -- Files

9. Internet Protocol Suite -- Tcp/Ip
   The Internet protocol suite like many protocol suites can be viewed as a set of layers. Each layer solves a set of problems involving the transmission of data, and provides a well-defined service to the upper layer protocols based on using services from some lower layers. Upper layers are logically closer to the user and deal with more abstract data, relying on lower layer protocols to translate data into forms that can eventually be physically transmitted. The original TCP/IP reference model consisted of four layers, but has evolved into a five-layer model.
10. File Sharing -- Users
    File sharing became popular with the birth of Napster. At it’s peak, Napster claimed nearly 60 million visitors per month. Napster users were able to share music with other users, ignoring copyright law. As the pioneer of peer to peer file sharing, Napster allowed individuals to share music stored on their hard drives directly with other Napster users. Users installed Napster software, making this sharing possible. Each user’s computer became a mini-server.
