If you turn off Simple File Sharing, you have more control over the permissions to individual users. However, you must have advanced knowledge of NTFS and share permissions to help keep your folders and files more secure. If you turn off Simple File Sharing, the Shared Documents feature is not turned off.

Box.net lets you share files with partners and clients — it makes file sharing simple. For any file or folder in your Box, you can create a unique website address (URL) which can be accessed by anyone you give the link to, even if they are not a Box.net member. For additional security, you can even create a password for that link, adding an extra layer of file protection. Box is online file sharing at its best.
