Fender necks were often finished with a very thin lacquer coat. Over time the lacquer would wear and expose raw wood. To protect the neck from oils and to return the original feel of lacquer here is a solution. For those who are finishing a new neck this finishing recipe will work for you .... One can of Neck Amber and one can of Clear will be more than enough for a neck.

The Fender Custom shop is located in the Corona Factory. George Amicay does incredible hand carvings on Custom guitars. The guitar on the wall is an intricate fish design. Originally made for his daughter, it took him 2 years to complete it. His daughter was not playing it and was storing the guitar in her closet. George borrowed it back and is displaying it over his work space.

The Fender tour starts at the factory in Ensenada, Mexico, proceeds to the Corona factory in California and ends with a classroom education of Fender's history and products. The program provides the attendants a general knowledge of Fender's manufacturing techniques and products.

In 1987, Fender acquired Sunn, a storied line of amplifiers whose past endorsees have included The Who, Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones. This jump-started Fender's re-entry into the amplifier business by making accessible Sunn's manufacturing facilities in Lake Oswego, Oregon. But this was still an early stage of the "new" Fender, so Schultz put the Sunn line of amps on the shelf until the Fender name had been re-established as the world's leading amplifier.
Maple fingerboard, 1950s: from the start in 1950, Fender used a one piece maple neck with a walnut "skunk" stripe down the back (except on early Esquires with no truss rod), where the truss rod was installed. This was the standard neck on all models until 1958 (when the Jazzmaster was introduced with a rosewood fingerboard; the rest of the Fender models changed to rosewood fingerboards in mid-1959).

Fender matched the great tuning stability of their patented Bullet end with their Super 250s to create the ultimate strings for modern trem players. The German-machined Bullet end is designed to fit precisely in the tremolo block to ensure that the string returns to the same spot even after heavy tremolo use. The end of your tuning problems could be on the end of these strings! >More
