Fender: Fender Tele
built 660 days ago
In the 1940's, a California inventor named Leo Fender had made some custom guitars and amplifiers in his radio shop. Eventually, Leo would create the world's very first instrument amplifiers with built-in tone controls. More importantly, though, was Leo's vision of better guitar. With his knowledge of existing technologies, he knew he could improve on contemporary amplified hollow-body instruments . . . and improve upon them, he did. In 1951, he introduced the Broadcaster, the prototype solid-body guitar that would eventually become the legendary Telecaster®. The Tele®, as it became affectionately known, was the first solid-body electric Spanish-style guitar ever to go into commercial production.

(EXC) This is easily one of the coolest models released by the Fender Custom Shop in recent years. Finished in a striking HLE (Haynes Limited Edition) metallic gold finish, the features include premium lightweight 2-piece ash body, one-piece maple neck with 9.5" fingerboard radius, late-50s "C" shape and medium jumbo frets, '63 Custom Tele single coil pickup, aged gold hardware including top-load three-saddle bridge and one-ply parchment pickguard. This ... features a custom wiring setup on the 3-way switch. The traditional "dark" forward position has been replaced with a more user friendly voice that pushes the mids a bit more, like having the tone rolled off just a touch. In the middle both volume and tone controls are active, the back position bypasses the tone control completely for that searing lead tone. This is a great player with killer tone options and weighing in at only 7lbs it's also one you'll be able to play all night!

Mid 1956: Fender started using Alder (instead of Ash) as the main body wood for all models that were not finished in Blond (which means the Telecaster stayed Ash). They did this because it was easier to paint Alder (it required less paint steps). All Alder bodies were dipped in a yellow stain, which was the first step in the sunbursting paint process (sunburst was Fender's primary color on Alder bodies, hence all Alder bodies were prepped this way, regardless of what color they were actually painted).
