Felix Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto
built 627 days ago
Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E Minor, op. 64 (1844), written for Ferdinand David, has become one of the most popular of all of Mendelssohn's compositions. Many violinists have commenced their solo careers with a performance of this concerto, including Jascha Heifetz, who gave his first public performance of the piece at the age of seven.
Though he was himself a good violinist, Mendelssohn peppered David with questions about balance, style, technique, and playability.  The violinist responded with generous and useful advice, and the result of their collaboration is one of the most perfect violin concertos ever written.
Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto in E minor; Bruch: Violin Concerto #1; Itzhak Perlman This is a magnificent interpretation of both Mendelssohn's violin corcerto and ... of Bruch's. The interpretation of Mendelsohn's concerto bring out all of its lyricism and that of Bruch's is superbly virtuoso. Great buy.
