Felipe Giaffone took the win from Casey Mears. A closely fought race saw Tony Renna take third. The race was action packed with many unscheduled pit stops among the teams. Kane was forced to pit for a new steering arm on the front right of the car. Unfortunately the pack passed while Kane was in the pits putting him a lap down and it was then decided to call it a day.

Felipe Giaffone finished a career-best fourth in the IRL IndyCar Series point standings driving for Mo Nunn Racing. His 2002 season included a win at Kentucky Speedway, five top-three and eight top-five finishes. He finished third in the Indianapolis 500 and surpassed $2 million in career IRL IndyCar Series earnings.

Felipe Giaffone will start from the pole with a time of 39.287 seconds (183.267mph). Alongside him will be team mate Chris Menninga on a time of 39.303 seconds (183.192mph). Tony Renna will line up third (39.451 seconds, 182.505mph) with Casey Mears fourth (39.485 seconds, 182.348 mph).

The IRL will be represented by the 2004 champion Tony Kanaan and runner-up Dan Wheldon as well as Vitor Meira and Felipe Giaffone. Champ Car will show with Mario Haberfeld and possibly Oriol Servia. Roberto Moreno, brothers Rodrigo and Ricardo Sperafico and virtually all Brazilian Series’ Champions from karts to Formula Renault, F3 and Stock Cars will contest the Cup.

Felipe Giaffone, piloto del equipo Volkswagen Camiones y Ómnibus, es el Campeón de la Fórmula Truck en 2007. El domingo, en Brasilia, él llegó en cuarto lugar en la última etapa de la temporada, acumulando 157 puntos, 24 más queso más cercano seguidor, Roberval Andrade. Entre las marcas, Volkswagen Camiones y Ómnibus conquistó el título, con la marca récord de 369 puntos, 152 más que el segundo puesto. Esta fue la primera conquista en la Fórmula Truck del ex-piloto de la Fórmula Indy, quien este año hizo su primera temporada completa en la categoría, en la cual estrenó en 2005, disputando no más que algunas etapas del Campeonato. El título de Giaffone vino en una extraordinaria temporada: cuatro victorias y otros tres podios en nueve etapas. La primera de ellas vino justamente en la etapa más importante del año, en Interlagos, en donde Felipe prefirió correr en la Truck aun habiendo sido invitado a disputar su octava “500 Millas de Indianápolis”.
