Well-known member of the ensemble cast of TV Series “Desperate Housewives” Felicity Huffman has probably nailed the breakthrough role of her career. Her portrayal of Bree was utterly unrecognizable to those who are used to watching her on “Desperate Housewives”. The entire make up, dressing, behavior changes and vocal training helped Felicity Huffman to bring on a convincing pre male to female transsexual operation personality on screen. If it was hard for a male to cross role as a female, it must have been twice the effort for a woman to learn how to be a man who is going to be a female.
Emmy Nominees Prepare for TV's Big Night on Sunday | Felicity Huffman ADDED: Desperate Housewives stars Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria, Nicollette Sheridan, Felicity Huffman and Marcia Cross will each spend a day during the week of Feb. 7 co-hosting ABC's The View while the show broadcasts from Disney's El Capitan Theater in Hollywood. "Felicity Huffman" (born December 9, 1962) is an Academy Award nominated American actress. She is well known for her role as Lynette Scavo, the hectic busy Super-Mom on the ABC hit show "Desperate Housewives", which earned her an Emmy Award. Huffman won eight significant awards, and was nominated ten times. ....more
Felicity Huffman leaves the glamour of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES behind and makes a surprising diversion with this offbeat film. Playing an uptight male-to-female transsexual named Sabrina Bree Osbourne (nee Stanley), Huffman gives a remarkable performance. Readying herself for the final snip that will make her womanly transformation complete, Bree's life takes a sudden turn when she receives a phone call from New York. Her son, Toby (Kevin Zegers), has been jailed, and Bree needs to post bail for him. The only problem is, Bree didn't know she had a son, but her therapist refuses to give her written permission to have the final part of her sex-change operation if she doesn't go, so Bree heads east from her California home. Thinking Bree is a Christian missionary, gay hustler Toby informs her of his intention to becom a porn star on the west coast, which brings out plenty of motherly instincts in the worried cross-gender father.

Writer-director Duncan Tucker said he always wanted to cast a woman in the lead role, and that Huffman was on his short list from the start. He first caught her on stage, in sometimes experimental work that included playing one-half of a lesbian couple in David Mamet's comedy of manners ''Boston Marriage" at the American Repertory Theatre in mid-1999. Lucky for Tucker he wanted her for his movie before she'd even shot the pilot for ''Desperate Housewives." In other words, she was still affordable, no small thing since ''Transamerica" was being made for next to nothing over six weeks, a rapid-fire filming schedule by traditional movie standards.
