Fat Albert
built 119 days ago
Fat Albert came into being in the comedic routines of Bill Cosby. Later, he became a cartoon staple along with the Cosby Kids. It was Cosby's way of using cartoons to teach children good lessons. Now, he comes to life in a new movie, for a whole new generation of children. Fat Albert has a very nostalgic feel to it. This is not always a good thing. The movie feels trapped in a time warp, when things were simpler.

Fat Albert is not only an enjoyable family movie, it’s ... a clever one. For example, the movie shows the impact that art can have on life and vice versa. Thus, Fat Albert and his gang literally jump through the TV set to affect the lives of Doris and her foster sister. This is a truth that Movieguide’s media-wise families have known for years, that the mass media of entertainment can have a strong impact, for good or ill, on children of all ages. This intelligent, media-wise theme comes powerfully to life in the movie’s final emotional shots, which will bring joyful tears to many media-wise moviegoers. Eventually, viewers are reminded that Bill Cosby based his characters on real-life people that he knows and loves.

Sitting alone in front of the TV, watching Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids,... read more

Fat Albert (2004) CAP Thermometers As Fat Albert did his best to guide Doris, he fell for Doris' foster sister, Lauri (Dania Ramirez). Lauri was quite compatible with the cool set at school but she was atypical of they who are so stationed socially in Hollywood high schools -- she was nice. And she fell for Albert as well. This complicated matters because unless Albert and the rest of the Cosby Kids returned to cartoon land, they would be reduced to a pile of celluloid dust.

Fat Albert’s cable, snarled with tree limbs, raced across Cudjoe Key to the ocean side. The heavy rain and icy down drafts pressed Fat Albert close to the boiling ocean. A hundred feet over Pepe, it gyrated wildly. Pepe thought it would crash on him, but Fat Albert raced southward. Pepe muttered a quick thanks to God for averting disaster and pulled on the engine’s lanyard, when a ripsaw noise startled him. He turned away from the motor and watched dumfounded, as Fat Albert’s braided cable dragged across the gunwale, rasping the soft wood.
