Bill Watson: "When the Canadian Fargo was introduced for 1936, it was available in .5, 1, 1.5,2 and 3ton sizes. The U.S.-built export Fargo line up ... expanded, although the 3-ton size was not introduced until 1937. By 1939 a 4-ton model was added in Canada, but it was built in the U.S. This became the norm - trucks larger than 3 ton were imported from Detroit for both Dodge and Fargo in Canada. The T-137 Power Wagon was also never built in Canada, with both Dodge and Fargo models imported from Detroit."

Fargo (1996) is a self-proclaimed "homespun murder story" set in the white-washed, winter wilderness of the frozen and bleak Upper Midwest. An anomaly of categorization, the contemporary masterpiece is a [F]ilm noir (with stark white vistas and backdrops), a satirical comedy, a suspenseful crime drama, and a violent mystery thriller. The Coen Brothers' film is an original mix of black mirth and murder that both delights and disturbs the viewer. The dark comedy's local color is provided by the flat-accented, dead-pan voices, regional dialect, and exaggerated, down-home mannerisms of the Midwestern characters and oft-repeated phrases such as "You betcha," "Aw Jeez," "You're darn tootin', "Okie-Dokie," "Yup," "Be there in a jif," and "Yah." And a number of incongruous dialogue sequences and extraneous minor characters appear without any real reason except to provide a fascinating journey along the way.

The big 1 1/2 - 3 ton Fargo trucks had a different style of hood louvers than did their Dodge counterparts. And Fargo had something Dodge would never have: big truck hubcaps! These three-inch units appeared as part of the dust cover cap on every medium-heavy Fargo front wheel through 1947.

In recent years, Fargo has seen relatively strong growth both in population and economic activity. Several businesses now have major operations in the community including Microsoft, Alien Technology, Navteq and PRACS Institute. The city's major retail districts on the southwest side have seen rapid expansion as has the downtown area due, at least in part, to investments made by the city and private developers in the Renaissance Zone. City leaders would like to see an addition of five-hundred new housing units in the downtown area within the next five years. Planning agencies have ... been active in promoting housing rehabilitation in older sections of the city such as the Roosevelt neighborhood to stem blight and strengthen the core of the city. Indeed, during the 1990s most inner city neighborhoods such as Hawthorne, Jefferson, and Horace Mann actually lost population even as rapid growth occurred along the edges of the city in sprawling new developments.

In its early days, Wells Fargo participated in the staging business to support its banking and express businesses. But the character of Wells Fargo's participation changed when it helped start the Overland Mail Company. Overland Mail was organized in 1857 by men with substantial interests in four of the leading express companies--American Express, United States Express, Adams Express, and Wells Fargo. John Butterfield, the third founder of American Express, was made Overland Mail's president. In 1858, Overland Mail was awarded a government contract to carry the U.S. mail over the southern overland route from St. Louis to California. From the beginning, Wells Fargo was Overland Mail's banker and primary lender.
