Certainly the immense hype surrounding developer Big Blue Box's inaugural effort helps foster a sense of disappointment - fed in no small part by Molyneux's own declaration that Fable would be the "greatest" RPG ever made. That's unfortunately not the case . . . although Fable is still an interesting, if flawed, take on the genre.

Before Fable was released on the Xbox console in September of 2004, creator Peter Molyneux infamously hyped up the title as the most open-ended game in video game history. Perhaps Fable's working title of Project Ego was a reflection of the creator's own personality, as many features he promised never materialized. Nevertheless, despite the absence of these features, Fable was still a critical success.

Eurogamer has a real treat lined up for readers this Friday, as they have trapped industry icon and Fable creator Peter Molyneux in a tiny internet box, forcing him to answer questions live like some sort of mad answer-money. Questions will be posed via Eurogamer's new LiveText system, which allows users to pose questions and a moderator to filter out the hundreds of "What are you wearings?"

Microsoft Game Studios today announced an exclusive Fable pre-order deal which will include an exclusive Fable documentary DVD. The limited edition DVD, available only with a Fable pre-order, contains a "making of" documentary featuring interviews with renowned game designer Peter Molyneux, as well as Simon Carter and Ian Lovett.

Once again, Peter promises that story and characters will ... be next-generation in Fable 2. Molyneux feel that with Fable, Lionhead Studios pioneered morphing and for that matter Fable 2 will have to accomplish more than that to surprise you because morphing into good or evil won’t be enough.
