Fable: Games

One important part of Fable is stealing, which you'll almost always end up doing even if you want to be the nicest hero you can think of. Most of your hair cards, tattoo cards and clothing end up coming from other people's houses. It doesn't affect your alignment that much, although it does give you evil points towards. If you're caught you could get in a bit of trouble with the authorities but it's easy to steal and not be seen, even during the brightest time of the day. Speaking of day, yes, the game does have time that passes by and it will become night time (which is ideal for breaking and entering), though at any point you can return to the Hero's Guild and sleep... switching the time of day.

The Fable 2 development blog has posted the philosophy behind the achievements that will be available in their upcoming RPG. There are two primary points that probably stand out above the rest. First of all, there will be no secret achievements. None. The reasoning behind this, somewhat surprisingly, is that games with secret achievements sell fewer copies. Go figure.

In the final analysis... Fable: the Lost Chapters is a lot of fun to play! This is the key reason behind giving this game such a high grade. The character development is intriguing, the story arc, despite the 'pre-destination' question, is satisfying, and the design and technical aspects are exemplary! Finally, there's extensive replay value here too, so if Lionhead were to produce the further chronicles of Hero, or some other character in the same world (with more alignment-affected story threads), I would be at the front of the queue for a 4 DVD game.

Just remember, Fable is not "Project Ego." What it is, though, is a redefinition for RPG’s. It takes out all the frustrating elements of the genre, and instead puts in a heap of fun options and possibilities. This is why; despite its disappointing conclusion, Fable is one of the most gripping and enjoyable games that has come to grace the console scene.

In Fable, how you customize your character will affect how other people in the game respond to you. For example, if you cover your character with tattoos and chain-mail armor, non-playing characters in the game will cower with fear in your presence. Keep a clean-cut appearance, and you will find that they admire and respect you. Little touches like this can go a long way to giving players the feeling that their characters truly are unique.
