A U.S. Navy F/A-18 Flying The F/A-18 Hornet (CF-18, F-18) is a fighter jet that is made by Boeing, and was originally manufactured by the McDonnell-Douglas Company. It first flew in 1978 and was introduced in 1983. Its main user is the United States Navy. It can fly off of a type of boat called an Aircraft carrier, because of its special design. The F/A-18 can attack land and air targets, something that is called multi-role. The Hornet is ... flown by the Blue Angels.
F/A-18 Hornet is one of the most popular Mac OS based flight simulation programs. Take control of one of the most powerful jet fighters in the world, and you'll soon find yourself fighting in a war in the Middle East. If you thought landing on aircraft carriers looked easy in Top Gun, wait until you have to do it at night! Version 3.0 is a major upgrade and includes more accurate missle targeting, more realistic graphics, and an interactive training mode to get you started.

An F/A-18 Hornet heavily armed with 10 AMRAAM medium range radar missiles and 2 Sidewinder short range IR missiles in a high G turn over a carrier. By the way, did you know that almost all American carrier ships are nuclear powered and have a crew of approximately 6 000 men and women? A floating city in other words. They can cruise at max speed for 22 years before they need to refuel. One single carrier has more air power than the air forces of 70 percent of the countries in the world. US Navy has 12 such carriers.

The F/A-18 Hornet, an all-weather aircraft, is used as an attack aircraft as well as a fighter. In its fighter mode, the F/A-18 is used primarily as a fighter escort and for fleet air defense; in its attack mode, it is used for force projection, interdiction and close and deep air support. With its excellent fighter and self-defense capabilities, the F/A-18 at the same time increases strike mission survivability and supplements the F-14 Tomcat in fleet air defense. F/A-18 Hornets are currently operating in 37 tactical squadrons from air stations world-wide, and from 10 aircraft carriers. The U.S. Navy's Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron proudly flies them. The Hornet comprises the aviation strike force for seven foreign customers including Canada, Australia, Finland, Kuwait, Malaysia, Spain and Switzerland.

The F/A-18 Hornet was designed to meet a requirement for a multi-role combat aircraft to replace the ground attack role of the A-7 Corsair, and the air defense and ground attack role of the F-4 Phantom. It ... had to be a low cost complement to the F-14 Tomcat and be able to operate from forward airstrips for the US Marine Corps.
