An F-14 Tomcat. The F-14 Tomcat is a fighter plane made for the American Navy. It first flew in 1970 and started to replace the F-4 Phantom II in 1973. It could carry 6 of AIM-54 Pheonix missiles and two AIM-9 Sidewinders. The plane is supersonic. In 2006, the Navy stopped using it. Iran uses the F-14, but they are rumored to be in bad condition.
F-14 Tomcat Super Fighter destroyed The F-14 Tomcat is going to hit the ground at some point. That's true of any type of aircraft. Unfortunately, with this plane even a minor crash can cause massive damage. On an early test flight, a wing slightly brushing the ground upon landing ripped the wing assembly off. Styrofoam is lightweight and will break, but on a well-constructed plane this shouldn't be a problem except for high speed crashes into the ground or crashing into a wall. Whethor it is low-grade styrofoam or the poorly glued pieces, the F-14 Tomcat crumbled or fell apart with even the mildest provocation.
F-14 Tomcat for Game Boy Advance Review - Game Boy Advance F-14 Tomcat Review F-14 Tomcat ... has some tasty visuals in its favor. The game uses multiple layers of scaling and rotating 2D sprites in order to create a fully three-dimensional theater. If you could apply the term 60fps to a handheld system, it would apply here. The many MiG aircraft and enemy submarines overlay daylight, morning, and nighttime backgrounds, each growing larger and larger as you rapidly approach. Cool effects, such as animated computer screens and flickering antiaircraft fire, also add to the excitement. In general, the dark nature of the terrain and the oversized cockpit make the action difficult to see without strong ambient light, but if you have a few halogens around, F-14 is gorgeous and speedy.

All F-14 Tomcats have the capability to carry the LANTIRN targeting system that allows the “Bombcat” to deliver various laser-guided bombs in air-to-ground combat missions. Many Tomcats are equipped to carry the Tactical Air Reconnaissance Pod (TARPS), making it the Navy’s only manned tactical reconnaissance platform. The first two Navy fleet squadrons to receive the F-14A Tomcat were the VF-1 Wolfpack and VF-2 Bounty Hunters. VF-1 was decommissioned... VF-2, based at NAS Oceana, Virginia, continues to fly the F-14D.

The F-14B, introduced in November 1987, incorporated new General Electric F-110 engines. In 1995, an upgrade program was initiated to incorporate new digital avionics and weapon system improvements to strengthen its multi-mission competitive edge. The F-14D, delivered in 1990, was a major upgrade with F-110 engines, new APG-71 radar system, Airborne Self Protection Jammer (ASPJ), Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS) and Infrared Search and Track (IRST). Additionally, all F-14 variants were given precision strike capability using the LANTIRN targeting system, night vision compatibility, new defensive countermeasures systems and a new digital flight control system.

The participation of the F-14 Tomcat in the 1991 Operation Desert Storm consisted of Combat Air Patrol (CAP) over the Red Sea and Persian Gulf and overland missions consisting of strike escort and reconnaissance. Until the waning days of Desert Storm, in country air superiority was tasked to USAF F-15 Eagles due to the way the Air Tasking Orders (ATO) delegated primary overland CAP stations to the F-15 Eagle. The governing Rules of Engagement (ROE) ... dictated a strict Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) requirement when employing Beyond Visual Range weapons such as the AIM-7 Sparrow and particularly the AIM-54 Phoenix. This hampered the Tomcat from using its most powerful weapon. Furthermore, the powerful emissions from the AWG-9 are detectable at great range with a radar warning receiver. Iraqi fighters routinely displayed countertactics as soon as the Tomcats "lit up" them with the AWG-9.
