1. Lynyrd Skynyrd -- Sweet Home Alabama
   Lynyrd Skynyrd was one of the most critically acclaimed Southern Rock groups(although the term did not exist at the time they formed) of the 1970s, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 13, 2006. Their distinctive triple-lead guitar sound made their songs "Free Bird" and "Sweet Home Alabama" American anthems and staples of FM radio.

   Sweet Home Alabama is one of the greatest classics of all time. Lynyrd Skynyrd created the sound that formed the foundation for many of the top country music and country rock bands of all time.
3. Katie Melua -- Songs
   On March 19, 2005, Katie Melua realized one of her childhood dreams by performing the song "Too Much Love Will Kill You" with Queen at the 46664 concert in George, South Africa. In early August 2005, Melua became a British citizen after pledging allegiance to the Queen at a ceremony creating new British citizens. Later that month, she played at a Dutch Royal House wedding.

5. Katie Melua -- Brit School
   In November of 2004, Melua was one of the young British pop stars invited to lend her voice to the Band Aid 20 remake of "Do They Know It's Christmas?" Like the original 1984 release, the single was released to help raise money for famine relief in Africa. At the end of February of 2005, she was one of the acts who performed before Queen Elizabeth II during a tribute to the British music industry.

   Peggy Lee's alluring voice is a balance between sultry swing and jazz. Also known for her distinctive vocal power and delivery, her ability to write many of her own songs has made her one of the most captivating artists of the vocal era.
7. Joni Mitchell -- Artists
   When the dust settles, Joni Mitchell may stand as the most important and influential female recording artist of the late 20th century. Uncompromising and iconoclastic, Mitchell confounded expectations at every turn; restlessly innovative, her music evolved from deeply personal folk stylings into pop, jazz, avant-garde, and even world music, presaging the multicultural experimentation of the 1980s and 1990s by over a decade. Fiercely independent, her work steadfastly resisted the whims of both mainstream audiences and the male-dominated recording industry. While Mitchell's records never sold in the same numbers enjoyed by contemporaries like Carole King, Janis Joplin, or Aretha Franklin, none experimented so recklessly with their artistic identities or so bravely explored territory outside of the accepted confines of pop music, resulting in a creative legacy which paved the way for performers ranging from Patti Smith and Chrissie Hynde to Madonna and Courtney Love.
8. Katie Melua -- Albums
   Katie Melua is the biggest selling solo female artist in Europe and the United Kingdom. Her second full-length studio album ‘Piece By Piece’ debuted at number one in the UK Album Charts, while here in New Zealand the album went gold spending 16 weeks on the NZ Album Charts.
9. William Boyd -- Good Man
   William Boyd is the type of writer who wins awards. His first novel, "A Good Man in Africa," won the Whitbread Literary Award for best first novel in 1981. His second novel, "An Ice Cream War," won the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize. His most recent novel, "The Blue Afternoon," won the Los Angeles Times Prize for Fiction.
