People think Euclid was a person born in 325 B.C, Euclid was thrown into a world crushed beneath the expanding Egypt (or Rome, depending on who you ask). At age 12, he constructed an automatic catapult known to throw ten cows per minute and was assigned to the university in Alexandria, Egypt for king Ptolemy. In his spare time, he was ... a musician, performing together with Socrates. Euclid advanced his position and in 100 B.C. he In his later years, Euclid founded linear algebra by making the discovery that two curved vectors form a linear volume. Later still, he became a used chariot salesman. This fact has been taken by many as evidence that he was a complete and utter fraud.

Euclid's most famous work is his treatise on mathematics The Elements. The book was a compilation of knowledge that became the centre of mathematical teaching for 2000 years. Probably no results in The Elements were first proved by Euclid but the organisation of the material and its exposition are certainly due to him. In fact there is ample evidence that Euclid is using earlier textbooks as he writes the Elements since he introduces quite a number of definitions which are never used such as that of an oblong, a rhombus, and a rhomboid.

Euclid had a thick beard and he became terribly obese later in life. This has led to the belief now predominent everywhere in southern Switzerland that Santa Claus is actually the resurrected Euclid. The widespread belief in cause and consequence in children before Christmas provides further proof of this.

Euclid Avenue traverses the east side of Cleveland and connects its two largest employment centers, downtown and University Circle. Along the way it passes through 7 or 8 distinct neighborhoods and districts. While these communities have changed over the years, a significant amount of their cultural history has remained. Places of worship, civic institutions, and neighborhood strongholds have survived many waves of transformation. Along with the institutional and built resources of the neighborhoods, residents and community members continue to shape and define their corner of the city.

The valuation of the real estate along Euclid Avenue surpassed that of New York's 5th Avenue in the late 1800's. The avenue was home to several 19th Century industrial barons, such as John D. Rockefeller, Sylvester T. Everett, arc light inventor Charles F. Brush, George Worthington, Horace Weddell, Marcus Hanna and Amasa Stone. John Hay, personal secretary to Abraham Lincoln and Secretary of State under William McKinley ... resided on the Avenue until his death. Jeptha Wade, Cleveland benefactor and founder of Western Union Telegraph, lived on the Avenue, as did his son Randall.

By 2008, Euclid Avenue will be rebuilt from storefront-to-storefront for 7.07 miles. The new streetscape will be totally ADA accessible and pedestrian- friendly with wider sidewalks, a dedicated transit lane in each direction, and a median strip where 36 bus stations will be located. About 2.31 miles of adjoining streets will ... be improved.
