The 2-Series Espresso Machines feature a fully automatic integrated milk sanitizing system. The tubings and the foamer head are rinsed automatically from within the refrigerator. In April, the first Espresso Book Machine was installed at the InfoShop at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., which has loaded 200 of its titles online for the three-month test period. Two additional Espressos will be installed at the New York Public Library and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in Egypt, in September. ODB is ... currently in talks with a bookstore chain outside the U.S. about installing the machine. In addition, the company is looking beyond the traditional book market and hopes to service the printing needs of large corporations.

Espresso consumption in the United States has grown tremendously in the last decade or two. In Seattle, Washington, you can't walk more than a couple of blocks without seeing a cafe or espresso cart -- they're in bookstores, grocery stores, laundromats, gas stations and movie theaters. There are drive-through espresso shops in parking lots. Sometimes an espresso cart will just park on the sidewalk, like the hot-dog vendors in New York City.

If you anticipate serving more than 50 espresso drinks a day you may want to consider a two group machine instead of a one group. A two group machine will have a larger boiler and a shorter recovery time for steaming milk. Two group machines usually require 220 volt electrical service, this is similar to the requirements of an electric dryer. One group machines come in both 110v and 220v.

In the world of home espresso machines, few features are more prominently recognizable than the saucer-shaped E61 grouphead. Its expansive chrome surface certainly offers plenty of eye candy, but the popularity of espresso machines based on this design owes as much to its well-deserved reputation for "forgiving" minor errors in barista technique as to good looks. Because the market has been flooded with such a variety of machines designed around the E61 group, buyers are frequently torn between what seems to be indistinguishable choices.
